Upgrading display/radio

I bought a used 2015 a few months ago and I love it so far. We own a foreclosure cleanup company so we are on the road a lot. My truck has the backup camera but no navigation. Can I upgrade to a factory display with navigation? Or even an aftermarket with messing anything up? My Dodge dealership said they have no clue and wouldnt do it even if they knew they could. They said probably not because the display is designed for this specific truck, but I find it hard to believe I cant change the radio/display. Any input or experience would be greatly appreciated

Hi Brittany! Your limitation is going to be how much you are willing to spend. I've researched this in abundance because I wanted to add Android Auto capability to my 2014 Outdoorsman with Uconnect. I discovered this week that the 2018 Uconnect systems with Android Auto can be retrofitted to our trucks and retain all factory settings. Since you don't have an 8.4 system you would have a little more to spend, but you can get a full kit to upgrade to an 8.4 with Nav for about $1800. Double that for Android auto capability. The website I recommend looking at is infotainment.com and call them for detailed answers. There are other alternatives but keeping the factory system (Panasonic) is the best way to go I think.

By the way the "8.4" means the upgraded 8.4 inch display. It is actually very easy to install and is completely plug and play.

Thank you! Thats what I'm looking for. $1800 is more than I was thinking it was going to be but to be plug and play with same factory settings is a major plus.

I was told if we removed the radio the truck would "lock" because of everything that is connected to the radio

I've never heard that and doesn't sound right. Try checking youtube to see what others have swapped their head units to, I've seen some switch to Alpine with no problem. Talk to one of the sales reps at infotainment.com about it but I'm positive it will be plug and play.

I was high on the cost. Depending on your setup it'll be closer to $1200 or so.
