Poor mpg 2016 eco diesel 3.0L

I think a lot of us were skeptical about the EPA update and many think their truck is running worse. Well, I track things like MPG for diesel and DEF and saw no difference. Drivability is harder to quantify but I saw no change in the hesitation. It is worst until the engine warms up. I haul...

Will P24AE Result in Limp Mode

Good news. I reset the code one more time this morning and after 4 cranking cycles the cel has not come on again. My scan tool indicated two codes, P24AE Manual and P24AE Permanent. Anyone know the difference. I could reset the manual one but the other seems to be "permanent" as in kept for...

Will P24AE Result in Limp Mode

Cleaned the sensor and diffusers tube. I reset cel but it came back on after a few miles. I have reset it again and will see if it comes back on. No one seems to have the particulate matter sensor, not even molar. No indication of limp mode imminent. Other suggestions? Can’t find a shop...

Will P24AE Result in Limp Mode

CEL lit up yesterday driving around Custer, SD on my 2016 EcoDiesel. I am on vacation 1800 miles from home pulling a 7800 pound travel trailer. If the code is not reset will the engine go into limp mode with this code? I have tools but I nfortunately I have no where to work on the truck...

    2016 ecodiesel exhaust filter full

The DTC was PO428 catalyst temp sensor high bank 1. Mechanic said it was tha “back one”. That is all I know. Do you drive with a heavy foot? I try to keep RPM’s under 2000 and never Deere gen messages.

    2016 ecodiesel exhaust filter full

FINAL UPDATE After the dealer realized they were troubleshooting the wrong sensor, they replaced the bad one and all is well. They evidently did both a force regen and drove it to get the % below 65. Not really sure what order they actually performed the tasks. I guess it was just my...

    2016 ecodiesel exhaust filter full

UPDATE My truck has been at the dealer for almost 2 weeks. They replaced the catalyst sensor but that didn't fix the problem. They traced wires for several days and when I called yesterday (Friday) it sounded like all they had left to do was force a regen. I will go by on Monday and get the...

    2016 ecodiesel exhaust filter full

I realize this thread was started a year ago but thought I would add my experience for others. I was at Lake Seminole, GA, just north of Mexico Beach, FL when Hurricane Michael came through. I should have parked my truck away from any trees because 100 mph winds bring them down. In this area...

MPG ratings, have you seen this

My wife just beat her best MPG's. 480 miles and she had it up to 31.4 MPG. Is it true that the average MPG's is only for the last 50 miles? Last picture shows 31.3. Just turned 10,000 miles on this trip.

Only had my 2016 for 5 months. MPG's right on EPA estimates out of the dealer. If you bought used you may want to take it to the dealer and make sure maintenance is current.

    COOL DOWN IDLE CHART

In my 2016 user's guide on page 191 is a Cool Down Idle Chart. There is no explanation. I have assumed it is important and when pulling my trailer I let the engine idle for 5 minutes. With no load I don't idle at all. Is the turbo temp column the turbo temp based on driving conditions and load...

MPG ratings, have you seen this

Hi Chuck, You didn't describe your ride so let me ask the obvious. Are you talking about a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel or a 2500/3500 Cummings diesel? 22 MPG sounds like the Cummings.

I bought one of the last new 2016's 5 months ago because I didn't want to wait on EPA and saved $10,000. It is a 4x2 Laramie Crew Cab 5'7" Box. I have 10,000 miles mostly on 4 lane highways with 55 and 65 MPH speed limits and several small towns. I bought the truck and a 6x12 tandem axle...
