    Crank tone wheel

The tone ring recall vins stopped in March of 18 if I remember correctly. My truck was built Aug of 18. I skirted by. I was concerned as well.

    Oil Leak

My timing chain cover was doing the same. Fixed under warranty 30k ago. Not leaked since.

U0101 code. No communication between ECM and TCM

You do know you can manually bypass the gear selection knob. The instructions are in the manual.

    Regens

I happen to stumble on the answer online. It sounds practical but probably doesn't work. Has anyone attempted this method? I use am alpha as a backup if I am in an area where a longer drive is not practical. How do you force a regen on a ecodiesel? Press the brake pedal and the accelerator...

Lift pump replacement and DEF CEL codes

Well if they changed the pump, it is a bad connection somewhere. Could be a pinched wire, bad ground, or a connection that was not properly seated together. Hard to say exactly, but they should know where to look without charging you. More than likely it is in the tank or on top of it.

Lift pump replacement and DEF CEL codes

The first code yes, the second could, and probably is related but not directly a problem. The first will solve the second more than likely.

Does your lift pump make a noise?

I cannot speak for our EDs but I had a Duramax and forgot to drain the filter assembly/water separator several times in a row. The water became overwhelming and went into the fuel system and messed up the hpfp and burnt the injectors. My mechanical breakdown insurance from Allstate cover the 9k...

    Fuel filter torque setting

I had the ram tech tell me torque to 18 foot pounds. It seems snug and has not leaked over the past 40k. I have changed it 4 times since.

New here and don't even own one yet...

To be honest, these truck are not like the old school diesels. Fuel up and go/rarely pop the hood. These are much more finikie. They need to be well maintained. I want to use the term pampered, much unlike an older power stroke or Duramax. A lot of electrical components and other added features...

    2014 ram 1500 ecodiesel problem

My pump was seeping fuel. The dealer pulled the pump apart, put it in the parts washer and rebuild it with what parts were on the shelf and orings to buy me time. They said it would be months before they could get a new one to swap but they have added me to the list. Covered under warranty. No...

    Truck Vibrating

Chances are good with Chinese tires and rims. I had the same problem on another vehicle. Just because they're new doesn't mean they're quality.

Were you able to complete the Regen without a trip to the dealer?

AlfaOBD And What You Can Do!

I believe my confusion was failing to realize there was a variation from previous GDE tunes and a more recent " updated" version. Although I have read so many articles on tunes, I very well could have switched them up.

Was it ever the water pump?

AlfaOBD And What You Can Do!

I picked up my tune last summer. I probably missed the mark the way my luck goes, but I'll try your suggestion.

AlfaOBD And What You Can Do!

Morning John, I have been following your post on the site since I joined. I take a good amount of stock in your experience. That being said I have a question. The EGR, shutting it off, my GED tune did not disabled it from what I understand. Is this a later option? Is it not available anymore? My...

    100% Exhaust Filter

You need to buy an alpha obd scanner and the correct cable. Then follow the steps to complete a forced Regen. Once it reaches temperature (think it was about 150ish) then you can activate the process. Takes about an hour and not hard to do.
