I stand to be corrected, but I dont think its DEF that you smell when cold, as DEF is used to neutralize the NOX that is produced when combustion temps are high. That's why EGR helps lower flame temps and reduces DEF use
Ok, well I've certainly got anything but a sweet smelling exhaust when it's cold! It plain stinks so that it almost is offensive!
Edit the quote so it doesn't look like Tremper added my statement
Sorry to hear of your experience!
Were you watching your coolant level as prescribed by the egr recall? Sweet exhaust smell would most likely mean it was burning antifreeze, and if it was leaking internally it likely took out the engine.......
Was that with the hood open? Just curious if the push button starts might need the hood completely latched. The keyed version one you can manually start with the hood open but not remote start
It's often been said the worst thing you can do is use it as a grocery getter, regardless how you set it up with tune etc.
So dont baby it trying to get the highest efficiency possible, as it sometimes needs to work!
Welcome, I'd say going by your post....dont! You wonder if they fail from over working by towing and its more likely that a lack of actually making it work leads to failure by extended periods of running below operating temps. I bought my 14 before I read all the neg, I haul feed, do some...
Not sure what former life my truck had, but it had almost 3000hrs when I bought it and 900 some idle hrs! Gotta love Canadian winters and remote start!
Was that towing anything?
This is just my 2nd winter with the eco and I just bought a cover for it 2wk ago and put it on. Wow, what a difference! Not sure how to know when to take it off when it turns mild though.....
I thought these engines go BOOM once something is gone bad, not drive around getting oil changed whilst its "growling" and going back to dealer. Sounds like drivetrain noise if it goes away when you ease up at speed. But metal in oil? Can't argue with that!
Hi, I recently got the bluedriver app and bluetooth reader, and I'm wondering what a normal boost pressure is at idle?
Mine will show around 14psi and I would venture a guess that's its nowhere near that high judging by the softness if the charge lines!
No codes, but could it be a faulty MAP...
For me I dont have AEM update and it often wont turn on with just hitting the ON button, but if I then press SET and then the ON it activates! I sure dont know why but it works for me
