I'm curious as to what the norm is for codes popping up on these trucks. I've owned a 2014 for over 13 months and it hasn't had a code yet other than when I drive it around with the egr unplugged.....
Possibly they are as a dealer, trying to avoid as many of these engines puking on people. But I dont think that would fix it, it's more in the operation of it and so on. I assume you are still with in the recommended time interval? Never exceed 1 year, or 6mth on B20 fuel
Hey good luck on at least trying!
But ask a GM guy about reliability, and he'll say it's been great, just regular maintenance, and in reality they've spent more in repairs than you have lol!
Why others leaky egrs don't catch fire??? I guess I don't know, but i doubt that there's a diesel engine in fleet vehicles that has as poor a EGR cooler as the VM 3.0, besides the excessive EGR amounts it is calibrated to induce, to reduce the constant DEF refilling inconvenience, leading to...
O
TC, I know I'm likely lacking in comprehension, but I have absolutely no idea how you expect the EGR coolant leak to show up in the OAs, when time and again these leaks have not been detected when troubleshooting at garages if they test it cold.
So if it leaks when hot, engine is running and...
Is that so???? I wonder why mine shows an EGR position of anywhere from 8 to 14 percent at idle ? Foot completely off the throttle and coasting on highway usually isn't zero either
I could see extended idling below operating temp causing issues, but if you can maintain operating temp at an idle then I'm not sure what the issue would be other than a constant flow of egr gagging the engine if it's not turned off somehow
Success apparently comes when you tune out the EGR . If you do that after the new engine it should be good for a lot longer! Otherwise it just might fail again.....
Hi all, I've been wondering if this diesel actually uses a throttle body to control the charge airflow coming into the intake plenum? I noticed on bluedriver that there is a value on the intake that stays at 94% unless I reconnect the egr, then it drops and can also hear it in the intake that...
Thanks, and the OP will likely want to make note of the scr concern as well, if it actually overdoses DEF to try and reduce NOX since its not able to use egr with it disconnected.
Yeah, I do find the scr issue concerning, but running the engine without the egr threatening to melt down the intake with 400+F gases coming in is much more relaxing!
I do so little continuous travel, that by the time everything is hot that it needs DEF I'm usually there. I'll try and gauge it but it lasts so long that its hard to do.
Maybe this is where diluting the DEF with distilled water would help.......😉
