I'm looking into tuning my 2016 Laramie Longhorn ecoDiesel. I've been looking pretty hard at the GDE and SFT tunes. I think I may even go with a delete later down the road so I can do stage 2 for added power/efficiency. This is all super new to me, though. I see you've used the SFT stage 1. What...
Yes, if you motor in fact fails while tuned, it will void your warranty. The question is, will Ram go that far to check if it was tuned? Some have experienced that, others have not.
Any tuning has this risk though, not just GDE.
So GDE no longer electronically delete the egr? This was before? I'm confused.
In any case. What would be a good tuner option?
Can I remove engine lights with the GDE?
At present she has the OEM tune. This version there is little to no turbo lag and runs out on the highway just fine. Fuel mileage avg. about 24 mpg. There is a noticeable punch at 2K rpm as the Turbo spools up, kind of begs why a variable van? If we had not experienced the improved HP and Torque...
...any issues with driveability. I'll look into the GDE tune. I spent almost 10 years writing ECM s/w for Ford for the 6.9/7.3L engines back in the 80's and 90's. I'd be happy to take over the tuning via a handheld. Ive never been a big fan of ECM swaps where I cant go back if needed...
Get the SFT tune/s. Comes with easy to use handheld tuner allowing you to change tunes. When you go to dealer or smog it just return it to the stock tune.
I'm not even sure you have to return it to stock for smogging.
...not replaced the egr cooler recall from 2018 ….. it just went and after ten weeks at dealership parts were replaced including manifold ….now 91.000 miles.
I love the diesel but CA makes tuning damn near impossible ….. BANkS looks like it has one now for our the 2014 eco diesel ….any thoughts ?
...off the egr would be a good thing . Does anyone
have any first hand experience with drive train warranty claims being
denied because of tuning? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too difficult
for them to tell if you ever had it tuned . Is it an issue? I'm on the fence
Do I risk my warranty or...
For my 2021 Ecodiesel, I will use the new mopar oil filter # 68507598AA canister, o-rings and filter all in one..I bought 6 last week.
Walmart and diesel filters.com carry. Approximately $37-$43 each. Alot less expensive than alot of places. I have 900 miles on my 2021 and I'm going to do my 1st...
Hello all new to this bought my first ED Ram about 4 week ago. And love it. Its a 17 has 53k on it. My questions are about Tuning. First when I got it the DEF gauge was about half. I filled it day I bought it. Filled and Gauge show full. I have put just under 3k miles and the gauge shows full...
...HP tuners (I've only used EFILive), but the tuner that created your files might have some more insight if that's the platform he uses. Otherwise, a nice scanner might do the trick. I do wonder if you don't have a tuning issue if you're still getting the pop up's after removing those components.
Do your research, there's a few options for tuning and tunes will definitely help solve your issues. I'm sure you've noticed the delay at idle of almost 3 seconds, tunes will help. you basucally have less than 6 choices, one tune is EPA compliant, the others can turn of EGR which is one of the...
Welcome!
I'd recommend reading through some threads here:

Plenty of reviews and opinions on the tuning matter. :)
Hi all, new to the forum… I have a 2017 Ecodiesel… and I’ve been noticing a distinct lagging in acceleration, primarily at highway speeds.
Did some research, and saw a ton of people “Chipping” their trucks (pardon me if I’m using the wrong terminology here, I have never done this). I think this...

Good synopsis. K
I think you answered your own question. I deleted fully because I don’t want the egr ruining the engine, I didn’t want to waste fuel regening and it runs better.
Solving the emissions moral dilemma was easy, For me it came down to a 5 mpg improvement. The extra emissions...
