Generally, a flash is referencing some kind of update or change in your tune. However, you can also "Flash" other modules that is not your ECM (engine computer).
The dealer should be able to run your VIN to see if you have any outstanding updates for your ECM.

But seriously, follow the owners manual for maintenance, and have a look at our maintenance section here and it should treat you right. Some folks have some bad luck, but the percentage is still small overall.

OBD II is a generic protocol so it should work on all (1996 and newer?) vehicles, but.... the "fit" part means they haven't programmed all the PIDS for the EcoDiesel specifically.
I wonder if we could generate enough interest to have them to do that?
I have to say, this is a nice product an a little more compact than something like an Edge. However, I haven't confirmed yet if it will command a regen or if you can customize the PID's it will display.
DPF %, etc, would be nice.
