    Does the truck sit outside? Rodent possibly, was the sound foam intact or removed... The common denominator with most fires is the turbo area...but some have burst into flames hrs and even days later after being shutdown.

    They will check its operation, If it triggers the P0245 ( I think that's the Code#) the dealer Will pass on the AEM. It has the thermo-couple to Check Temp if the spread is to great it will trigger code(s)

    When Duramax owners listen to TC and install Auxiliary/Transfer fuel filtration I have CP4s on My shelf that went over 500K miles, its rare but their life span is equal to CP3s when good fuel is used, the real problem with CP4s ,when their fail they are particle makers, the CP3 just blows up...

    Why did the system NOT throw any codes, it has a thermo sensor just before the EGR valve? IMO the only way for the returning gases to have burned a hole in the plenum is long running idle time and valve stuck open, that just does not seem to be the case in the OP post.
