Congrats on your new ride. I had a rough start with my 2020 but smooth sailing since then.
I think you will see 70ish is the sweet spot for mpg. I see, hand calculated, about 28.4 if I am close to 70. Closer to 80 it seems to drop considerably, to about 24. On back roads in TN, I can see over...
What size toy hauler and weight? I love my 2020 as well but haven't towed anything but a car trailer with a Corvette on it. Not much weight there and it did just fine.
Good looking truck!!
At 3,718 miles, I got this message for the first time. I have searched for how often these Regen and how long it takes. Mine took exactly 15 miles at 65-70mph, about 2,000 rpm's and told me it was a complete Regen once it was complete.
I have a 2020 and up to about 2,300 miles. Should be at 5k pretty quick. Planning oil change and analysis at 5K. I will report my findings. As of now it isn't black, I can still see through it easily on the dipstick.
I am not a diesel tech or even close but read that could be a fuel injection quantity issue. Could be injectors or maybe a pump.
Probably something to get checked out pretty quick.
OP, don't mean to steal your thread...... hopefully more solid information will be added.
TC, you seem to have some inside knowledge on VM. Do you feel there is any chance FPT could or would ever step in and improve the quality situation at VM or are they totally different entities?
Oh.....man I am sorry to hear that. After two attempts to repair and the dealership on the phone with STAR support, they ultimately decided they wanted my engine sent to MI for an engineering study.
Total engine replacement. Was at the dealership a very long time.
Dealership was as helpful...
Many people "tune" the EGR (large issue this this engine) and also the DEF system out of the equation. Both contribute to ongoing problems with the 3.0 engine. There are SO many threads here you can read until you are sick of reading. You can delete these systems entirely and give this little...
Well....I had a very rough start with mine, to the point of it requiring a complete engine replacement with under 300 miles. New engine was installed and no problems since, about 2,000 miles now. Love the power delivery, love the ride and mileage. Mine is a 2020 Bighorn 4x4 Sport with the...
Gofishingup - I think you nailed it perfectly on the Tacoma. My wife has a 2019 and it has been nothing but exceptional from day one. Dated and very little room in the backseat but as far as reliable, like most Toyota's, it has been fantastic. Oil changes, tire rotations is it. Does not get the...
I hate to hear that for your sake but after my experience, I would expect no less. I think your expectations are in the right place though, I highly doubt any help from FCA will come. If you wait on them, it would be years I would imagine. They made so many promises that just turned out to be...
GDE, they did get the truck back on the road but I am less than thrilled with FCA customer care (or lack there of). Complete and utter failure on that portion.
It seems no matter the issue, FCA lawyers will in no way give in and want to force a lengthy and costly court battle. Some people are...
Does not sound good at all. I hope FCA will step up as well but my experience was just the opposite. My 2020 had to have an engine replacement with less than 300 miles on it. Purchased April 8th and just got it back a few days ago.
Good luck and keep us updated.
TC - I will just say from an outsider, your knowledge, advice and opinions are important and matter. Some of us (me) read forums, read reviews and trust the product and process had been improved. I build automated equipment for Tier 1 automotive companies, each one specific and one off. We learn...
