Good info.. looks like it's for Windows and/or Android software. Looks like $49 for the cost, and the adapter is here: http://www.alfaobd.com/index.html
Could always get a smaller one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008SEBQ2G/?tag=jhdiesel-20
But, you're not going to get the stations like before. I don't use FM radio anymore so it wouldn't be a worry for me..
Anything can be detected by the dealer if they want to find it. As far as tuning, it's really hard to beat custom tuning with a reprogrammed ECM. I think you'd all around enjoy it more.
We've got plenty of reading on that here!
I don't have extreme cold weather here in TN, but I've had single digit nights and never had a problem.. but, I would just put it on a timer to run about 2 hours before you leave and call it day.
I'm to OCD to think about having any gas in there, these things are just to picky.. My father pumped a full tank of gas in his Duramax a few years ago.. that was fun. He asked why it was knocking after 1/2 mile from the station.
Honestly, I would start with draining the tank, then changing the filters. Fill up with #2 diesel and then some additive for a little extra protection.
Welcome! We're glad to have you.. start by reading around the forum as we have plenty of info to go around. Fuel filters is something I always pay extra attention to on a diesel.
