LOL, with my testimonial, they'd be rolling ecodiesels off the lots by the millions (probably to the scrap yards)!! Sad but it seems to be true. If you want a car to just start and drive and change oil, buy a gas truck.
I love my truck, don't get me wrong, but I also have spent a lot of...
I agree, I think the problem is a lot of people bought them expecting to just put the key in and drive 250,000 miles cause "diesels are supposed to be known for their longevity." There may be a small handful who don't know much about cars, trucks, diesels or mechanics. They let things slip...
Great report! You're 100% bang on with everything, I certainly hope all the time and love you put into the truck will pay off with longevitiy and reliability over the years. They certainly 'can' be nice trucks but it's so sad that we have to spend extra $$$ just to protect the truck from...
All depends what they look for. Do they lift the hood to make sure you have all the emission crap in place? Or do they do a sniffer test, or OBDII test? Gotta look at your state and what they do for an emission test.
do they inspect under the hood during emissions? If so, and the egr cooler isn't leaking, just leave it in-tack... I'm not touching mine for now, if it starts to leak, I'll do a full delete. How often do you have emission testing?
John, what are these for?
so if you're egr cooler isn't leaking, you can either leave it all in-tack and just keep an eye on the coolant to make sure it's not dropping or get yourself the cooler delete kit and pull it out too, you already have the diffuser gone.
Question for you Jon.Silverson, if you're egr cooler...
You can get tuned, shut off the egr electronically, leave all the egr hardware intact for the visual emission inspection. I wonder if they are able to detect if egr is shut off??
In Canada it's not mandatory at this point thankfully, and there's no financial incentive like in the US to get it done. There's nothing saying we have to do it or we can't register our trucks, so: if you have the choice, don't do it. If you have a tune, definitely don't do it.
However, if...
jbutler, try this one, it's in the states:
Just double check that it will delete the egr cooler and egr, the picture doesn't seem to show all the same pieces as the other kits.

And here's another...
I just have hot tune, I love it, no more lag from start, when I need her to go, she goes! If I need to pass someone, she goes. No more close calls!
I regen every 1100 - 1200 km with gde instead of 150-200 km from stock, mpg are better.
I'd hesitate with that egr kit listed above, there's...
No, I haven't done stage 2 yet. I only have GDE so at least I know that the EGR is shut off.
My stock egr cooler started leaking around 56000 km, and I had it replaced under warranty. So I figure I'm OK for a while, but once I roll 100,000 - 110,000 km, I'll watch my coolant very carefully...
darryl, pull your diffuser tube out, if you see wet tar, sticky black goo on the tip, that is a clear indication that your egr cooler is leaking and it is pissing coolant into your intakes which is bad for the cylinders, oil, and bearings! That would also explain why your map sensor is setting...
usually that's triggered by a dirty MAP sensor. Do you have a tune or are you running stock ecu? If stock, you're MAP sensor is probably caked in soot causing a code.
Another possibility - do you ever hit the brake and gas at the same time, that'll trigger the message instantly, but by the...
you probably should do a block, otherwise you'll have a diffuser tube with no where to go if you're doing banks intakes... may as well pull off the egr cooler too and do a stage 2 delete cause those are prone to leaking anyway and are not worth replacing unless they are under warranty. if...
