499.8 miles towing just under 5000 lbs, 18.5 towing average. Almost 19 on the interstate. Obviously, your extra weight cost you the extra mpg.
Unhooked, over almost 2,200 miles I'm averaging 29.5.+-
That's what I was expecting, but when I filled the tank after the first 175 miles, the digital gauge read 28.3 and the calculator (using the actual number of miles divided by 175) yielded 28.1. The last 200+ miles contained the mountainous portions I mentioned above which were paved but very...
I've been filtering thru these posts to see if my mileage is similar to others. I bought my '15 eco about 10 days ago and so far, Ive put about 375 miles on it - mostly highway but a good amount of rough, windy mountainous road (<30 mph speeds) and some city (maybe 20%). Right now, I am...
I bought my '15 used about 10 days ago. It too has been de-badged, with the exception of the two Ram heads (grill and tailgate) and the two ecoDiesel badges on the front fenders. I didn't even know what edition it was until I started it up and saw "Lone Star" edition on the video display. I...
So, your analog gauge read cool (not warm/hot) and the digital gauge read 250 degrees? Weird. I wonder which one is right? Maybe that's why the TFL guys didn't report any issues when towing 7200 lbs, at FULL throttle, for over 11 minutes, straight up the Ike Gauntlet at 12000 feet! They were...
Very informative, thanks. We have a lot of high passes in Oregon too, and will encounter many more when we travel around the NW and SW United States, many that you mention. Our pickup is a 2015 LoneStar, similar to yours but with 3.55:1 rear-end and is a 2-WD. Don't know what your trailer...
It's too early for me to make a judgement yet, since I have only owned my eco for a week now, but already I know this: it gets 26+ mpg combined, runs beautifully (so far) and is very hard to locate any used models, regardless of year (14-16) in the state due to a lack of trade-ins. Apparently...
I was strongly warned by friends of mine NOT to buy my then 2001 Dodge 1500 4x4 with the Magnum V-8 in 2004. They said it would never last and the front-end would go out on it at 50K. I still have it today and it has 168K miles on it. No front end issues, no engine issues, not nothing except...
Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical myself, but hopeful.
I have yet to pull my trailer with mine but I'm getting around 26+ combined which is great for a half-ton. I also still own my '01 Dodge with the Magnum V-8 and it only gets around 14 (un-loaded) on a good day.
Good to know (about the tunes) cause you sure do hear a lot about them. One improvement that will not void the warranty is a bolt on Cold Air Intake (K&N or S&B's). I am hearing claims by owners of an improvement of up to 4 mpg for the simple $300 up-grade?
If it does, you will likely find it on YouTube, along with a video on how to install it. I plan to use the instructions I found on there to install a Cold Air Intake (S&B) on my eco diesel. Friends are saying they saw a 3-4 mpg increase after the install. We'll see ~
I smell a rat in all this. Fiat-Chrysler's introduction of the small diesel into the 1/2 ton market was a game-changer and one the neither Ford nor GM were ready for. Too bad, the VM Motori motor was 50% owned by GM before they gave up on it and sold their rights to it to Chrysler. Fiat owned...
I've heard very little bad about the amazing VM Motori engine as compared to all the raves. There are bad engines in all the brands made, too bad you got a bad one. It happens. I too have one and I am hoping I didn't get one like yours. Sorry you had the grief - good luck with the lemon law!
Thanks. I'm taking it back to the dealer we bought it from (a Honda dealer) - we bought it used, of course, they aren't selling any more new ones. They called last night to tell me to bring it back in and they will give me a loaner to drive home (70 miles) while they try to fix it. I wouldn't...
Hello members. My first visit to the forum - hopefully to be able to contribute to the knowledge base and (this visit) to learn about a few things.
Yesterday we bought a 2015 Eco Diesel pickup at a well-known Honda dealer in our area. The truck seems fine, everything except the recurring...
