Usually around 13. Sometimes as high as16 and as low as 11. Depended on wind and nice flat roads.

    Towing Question

Hi Matt, I towed my 30' travel trailer with my '15 ED. Trailer was more like 7500 loaded and my truck tow capacity was 8950. It did okay, struggled a bit on the big hills in Colorado and ran a little warm going up the mountains. Wind was also a factor for speed and gas mileage. I think your...

    EPA holding 2017 Diesels hostage

There were more issues not related to the Ecodiesel that made the change but part of those issues involved spending a good chunk of money on the truck. I just didn't feel confident spending a couple thousand on it not knowing what will happen and I just choose not to wait and see. The fact that...

    EPA holding 2017 Diesels hostage

Said goodbye to my Ecodiesel. Loved the truck for a daily driver and had very little problems with it. Spooked by all the news going around and made me feel like I should not spend anything on it like for new tires, etc until I knew what was going to happen with all this. Got tired of...

REPORT: EPA to hold hearing today about new cheating allegations

Interesting clip from Truck Trend magazine: The company says it has been proactive in working with the agency and has proposed a major software update to improve emissions performance. Interestingly, in FCA’s official response, it stressed it looked forward to working with the “incoming”...

REPORT: EPA to hold hearing today about new cheating allegations

If it is true I hope there is a fix that can be done without loss of power but I think that would be unlikely. Really don't want to give this truck up.

Some questions/comments on my 2016 ED

The parking sensors in my '15 do that when I wash it or sometimes in the rain or snow. The dealer had every reason to do the flash for the TSB since the tech gets paid by FCA to do it. Why doubt the oil change? They have to warranty that so why would they not do it?

BG makes some great diesel products for both fuel and oil treatment.

    EPA holding 2017 Diesels hostage

I love my truck. it does exactly what I bought it for and I would not trade it for (another) Hemi. If FCA offers me something back, that is fine but I would keep the truck for sure.

EcoDiesels now under scrutiny for emissions defeat device?

Has anyone seen actual test data? The article is filed with words like 'court documents show', 'attorneys say' and 'allegedly'. They do site some test results but no reference to actual test data. Honestly, I didn't buy my truck because of 'clean technology' or even gas mileage. I don't like the...

EcoDiesels now under scrutiny for emissions defeat device?

Anyone else see this? http://m.carcomplaints.com/news/2016/ram-1500-jeep-grand-cherokee-ecodiesel-lawsuit.shtml I know there has been talk about Cummins, but now these too?

Engine Oil temperatures when towing or hauling large loads

Sorry for the late reply, somehow missed the notification . When I am seeing that 244 it is up long, high altitude climbs. AC on, 45 MPH, 4th gear , 7000lb trailer, 8% grade for 10 miles.

Engine Oil temperatures when towing or hauling large loads

Brian, there are oil cooler kits available and I agree that the eco diesel radiator is small. I have towed heavy loads up long, steep grades a few times now and my coolant temp rises to 244 exactly and just stays there as long as I maintain the same engine rpm and don't try to build up extra...

    Ram EcoDiesel Oil Change Information

What difference does that make? The point of my post was that oil sampling that the vehicle performs is not very accurate. Diesel oil or not, the ash from the oil as it gets old will leave deposits everywhere in the engine and will restrict oil passages and cause other problems. The additives...

Engine Oil temperatures when towing or hauling large loads

Follow up: I posted a while back about coolant temps over 240f when pulling over mountain passes. There was concern about coolant temps higher than oil. After a much smaller uphill pull this weekend I watched closer. Oil ran 5 to 10 over coolant most of the time and 10 to 20 over in the steep...

    HS Oil Cooler Kit

I will have to verify that I am remembering the temps correctly. Going to do another long uphill pull in a couple weeks. Dealer confirmed that the thermostat does not begin opening until 208f. Pretty high from what I am used to (180-190f). I believe this is an emissions strategy. Can't find a...

    HS Oil Cooler Kit

Sorry, left out a bit of info. This is only when towing a heavy load up a long, steep hill like Wolf Creek Pass.

    HS Oil Cooler Kit

Thanks for the info Alan. I am seeing high coolant temps but oil temps are okay. I have been thinking airflow through the grill is poor so I think I might make that change first. What were you seeing for coolant temp at those oil temps?
