Electronic Throttle Control Sensor

Hey guys,
I currently have a 2015 Dodge ram Eco Diesel Long Horn Laramie. Last week, I stopped at a gas station to fill up, and as soon as I left my engine light come on and said "Service Electronic Throttle Control" (yes, I put diesel not gas) lol. I have read so many different things on this. It is currently in the shop because once it gets to about 30 MPH it will not go much more. Just curious if anyone has experienced this same issue and if it it was something easy to fix?

Same thing just happened to me, took mine in yesterday. Talked to service adviser today he said electronic specialist said to refer to engine line technician, seems like engine my be blown.
Thankful still in warranty. Hopefully will know something for sure within a week.

At this point, we should ask who hasn't unfortunately. It seems to be a number of different "Fixes". Let us know what the dealer says... also, take a look around the forum here about this, lots of threads and different answers/opinion.

I had that happen 3 times. The last time the Dealer had the truck for a week. Waited another 3 weeks for parts( Ram told them to replace the entire fuel delivery system). I got tired of waiting and fixed it myself - by trading it in for an F150.

I will echo BoostN sentiments. I have experienced this code several times myself, oddly just after fueling? Anyway being a mechanic I carry a scan tool with me for just such occasions. According to FCA's own diagnostic tree (algorithm) you clear code and attempt to repeat code, if engine is running smoothly, no untoward noises like hammers, then test drive to confirm code. I do this by continuing to drive to my desired destination. Also according to FCA's diagnostic tree there are a number of situations which may trigger this code, sadly blown engine is included (Ray Mayer, good luck and let the thread know) many of the situations are noted "install known good part and test for code" so many times the Dealer throws parts at the code and hopes for the best. The one thing you must know about this code, the code throws the engine into "Limp Home Mode", low gears, speed no greater than 30mph. The longer you try to drive in this mode the more codes you will throw. My wife had this code appear and by the time she got it home, where I scanned it, she had kicked four more codes, all related, Low Boost, Injector volume below expectation, Unrealistic gear selection (my favorite),Throttle position sensor out of parameters. My personal experience, I have been able to clear code and not have any issues, cannot guarantee that this would be your resolve, however the most common resolution is injector related which is why I use a Fuel Conditioner at each tank and Fuel System Cleaner at oil change to help keep them clean.

I have gotten my second "Service Electronic Throttle Control" message in the last 1200 miles. I am having huge regrets about buying this thing. The improved fuel econ is not worth the trouble.

I’m on my second time to deal with this. First time they told me it was her and oxygen sensors. Can’t wait to see whats wrong this time. Mine is a 2016 Laramie ED.

One more time with the Electronic Throttle Control about a month ago. Had to flash computers again, etc. It was the last straw with me... FCA still so quiet about everything. so I went on vacation and bought a F150. Good luck folks I'm gone.

My second visit with the electronic throttle control ended up having the MAP sensor replaced. Service advisor told me next time would require turbo to be replaced. Trying to decide whether to go back to gas truck or a big diesel, although I do not need a 3/4 ton truck. May wait for F150 3.0 power stroke.

I have used Amalgamted in my 2015 for all 30,000 miles..never tossed a code, started using in my new 2017 as well, we shall see.

I Promise this, Your plenum and Diffuser tube is fifthly dirty. You map sensor will be throwing codes in the future.

I just foam My Plenum and cleaned the diffuser tube and MAP sensor, for the 4th Time in 40K miles it look like the one pictured.. I don't dart drive and I work hard at NOT creating soot...

FCAs wanted to make power with 3.0 displacement with great MPG. that combination= soot.

The last 10K miles I hook up the actuator, it definitely had More soot accumulation, them the 10K prior cleaning, I'm keeping it non-functional form now on and living with the P245B occasionally, I just clear it with the IQ, It only triggers the CEL when the rational at idle is way off, Sometimes weeks other times it only days.

The MAP only needs to measure the pressure so if it was 80% plugged under normal driving it would still register the Pressure.

I'm sure in long time ownership this is going to be costly to owners...I Now support deleting, blocking or tuning the EGR shut ,or restricting the flow.

When I did My 4th Intake/Plenum cleaning I was so PO how much Soot accumulated I didn't take pictures.

My 2013 Cummins 6.7 at 36K miles only a film of soot on the intake, at that I restricted the flow even more. the 3.0 is just a dirty little soot piggy in OE form that gets great mileage and has good power. that combination=soot.

Tuning the soot away goona cost mileage and power. to meet emission laws..

Some Makers are Now claiming that the NOx and soot can be controlled Downstream exhaust this is a Big break through if it can be done NO more ( Dirty) EGR prior to mix with intake air.
