has anyone had the problem of exhaust fumes entering the cab of truck on 2014 ecodiesel

That's not normal... I would find a new dealer if they say that is "normal". No CEL (check engine light) should even come on a brand new truck.

Ive got 250km on my 2016 and am getting an occasional smell of what seems to be smoldering cardboard to the point it makes your eyes and nose burn. it only seems to do this once it builds to full temp which takes a bit when outside temps are -25 to 30c. Any ideas?? I keep wondering if they missed unwrapping something when it had the PDI done. Been a lot of idle and short 10 min trips but hitting the hwy tonight so hopefully whatever it is will clear itself.

Brand new, you'll get lots of smells. It's just labels, oils, and grease burning off from assembly. Could also be in the regeneration process. I'd give it awhile before you start to worry.
