Truck Year
2014
Owner of 2014 ecodiesel, bought Aug/2014, 120k kms. Very pleased with truck, until this past Sunday when EVIC message appeared saying that exhaust filter was 80/90 % full. Truck went immediately into limp mode & I crawled home in 2nd gear. Had it towed to dealer on Tuesday & got it back today.
They reflashed the PCM, did a manual regen (down to 9%) and then drove until (presumably passive) regen resulted in a nil reading. They also told me there was a code that indicated a very high number (> 900) incomplete regens.
This is all new to me & I have the following basic questions (that the dealer wasn't able to clearly answer);
i) why no previous warning message about incomplete regens and soot level before immediate transfer to limp mode? Why did regens not happen?
ii) will reflashed PCM remedy this?

DEF consumption has been normal & tank has never been below 1/3 (normally at least above 1/2); I always assumed that no regen EVIC meant all was well & regens were happening as required. I have become aware of GDE hot tune & it seems like a very good idea? I'm also aware of the seemingly sensible notion that the EGR system is no friend of the ecodiesel?

We have recently returned from a trip to Newfoundland with a 30' trailer (3:92 rear end was great) and we were in some rather remote regions - very fortunate this didn't happen there!

This has very likely been dealt with - perhaps many times - and if so, I'd appreciate direction to the appropriate area. Site navigation is something new to me.

Thanks & best to all.
