My dad has a 2016 ED and recently towed his 5th wheel trailer about 50 kms and the service electronic throttle control came on and the truck went into limp mode, any ideas what could have caused this issue?

Has the vehicle had the emissions/ECM reflash been done? Chances are it it the CPS (crank position sensor) failed. Mine has gone bad twice (pre and post reflash) furst time it totally died, 2nd time it continued to run but took forever to restart as it would extrapolate the crankshaft position off the cam sensor.

Yes it has bin re flashed, and it still runs it just went into limp mode right away, truns out i was a low boost pressure code, i cleared the code and the truck ran like normal, I ran the truck hard and it never came back yet, could have just bin some dirt or a fluke

Curious what was the issue? Map sensor or swirl valves maybe? I have a 2016 and she is doing the same thing.

No he was towing his 5th wheel camper trailer up his street witch is a pretty steep hill and did not have the tow/haul button on causing the truck to think it was getting low boost due to going up hill with the heavey load, basically the truck didn't know it was towing and flaged a low boost code, it has since driven over 300 miles pulling his 5th wheel with zero issues

Got lucky for sure! Mine did this back in late Aug with a CPS fault. It’s covered under the tone wheel warranty, but there are no parts available from MOPAR and they want to take care of the High Pressure Fuel Pump recall, and change some fuel system components with the recall. Parts won’t be available until at least 1st quarter 2023. I haven’t had the truck since early September.

Id be loosing my mind as my truck is my daily driver...that is unexceptable they should be making parts for the product they are selling before they sell the product, if this happens to me i can guarantee id sell the truck and get a HEMI

I live rural also, about 3 hours drive north-east of Phoenix. So that probably has something to do with it. Things kinda happen on their own time around here. I’ve thought about asking for a loaner truck, but we are getting by with our other SUV.
