I got my notice from NHTSA via email as I had requested notification of issues about my vehicle. Go online to nhtsa.gov click on recalls and a page will come up for you to enter your VIN . You will get a response listing all recalls for your vehicle. This one is labeled NHTSA recall ID...
Its a gamble but it may be time to find a good lawyer. FCA sent an email to EPA on 5-26-2016 that states they are having bearing issues on model years 14,15,and16 with the 3.0L diesel engine. The near term solution at that point was to switch to 5w40 API-CJ4 oil and FCA ran tests to demonstrate...
I don't buy fuel at any one place, I can tell if I got some crap fuel as my mileage goes down. My truck has mostly highway miles on it as I have done a lot of traveling the last 3 years and have gotten fuel all over the eastern U.S. Most all the fuel and gasoline available in the Greater...
If your issue only happens when you tow a certain trailer I would check the trailer first. A tire with broken belts can cause some strange reactions. If you are convinced is is the transmission it needs checked ASAP as the shuttering will most likely destroy it.
Correct there are some other oils now available that meet the spec. My statement was based on info from 2016. The service bulletin FCA released 6-20-2016 only listed the Rotella 5W40 oil.
I had the update done and I had a serious lag 2 days later. My first thought was o no whats going to happen in winter. Much to my surprise the lag only seems to appear during warm up. I did drop 2 to 3 mpg average after the update, I added some FPPF to my last fill up as cold is in the forecast...
Here again the only oils approved for the ECODIESEL are FCA/ Mopar #68001332PC or Shell Rotella T-6. These engines were developed and are built in Europe where the fuel is much better quality. USA fuel has traces of asphalt and lots of other gunk in it.
ALL ECODIESEL OWNERS be advised the only oils that are approved for use in these engines is Mopar # 68001332PC or Shell Rotella T-6.
Use of anything else can get a warranty claim denied.
Changing the fuel filter can be a little messy as its above the drive shaft under the bed. It would be costly to have the filter only replaced by a dealer.
My dealer is in a small town but sells a lot of cars and trucks. Check the mopar owners website, there is a page that you can enter a zip code and see if the dealer offers any promotions or coupons. My dealer has a coupon on his link that offers an ecodiesel engine oil and filter change for...
I mostly do not let my fuel go below 1/4 tank. When my pump sounded loader than normal the filter was bulged out in the middle. When I cut it open I found a lot of crud inside and it had been on less than 10k miles. Since then I have put a new filter in when the oil gets changed every 7,500 miles.
My dealer sells a lot of trucks and when I took mine in for the first oil change at 7,500 miles the service manager advised me to change the fuel filter twice as often as the manual calls for. When I went in for the 15K oil change he told me they were still finding traces of asphalt in the...
For some reason U.S.A. seems determined to discourage diesel engine ownership. Our fuel supply is low quality and the taxes are high.
A large portion of vehicles in Europe are diesel powered because of the higher mpg. Maybe the gasoline producers there don't have a choke hold on the regulators.
I have also noticed a lot of sluggishness when the engine is cold and more DEF consumption since the update. I have found that if I buy good fuel and avoid the chain mini mart fuel I get better performance. I am very happy with the truck and have not had any issues at all. Just towed a 26ft...
