NC-RAM,
The tranny does not need oil added or filter & oil change for "life of the truck".
All the "experts" say that FCA considers life of the truck to be 100,000 miles.
I've never heard of a case where an additive impaired engine oil. I've only heard of and know of proven cases that an additive improves engine performance. The best example is with the Ford 6.0 diesel. An additive such as Archoil's AR9100 is nearly a must to preclude stiction. I use AR9100...

My main reason for the GDE tune was to shut down the EGR. My dealer's Service Manager was concerned about my low mileage (12 mos & 4690 miles) and frequent 3-4 mile "to the store" trips. He said with that kind of usage & mileage I'm headed for eventual soot, exhaust & filter problems. He said...
I have a spare stock PCM. If there is a reason to update or flash the truck's PCM my Service Manager installs my spare, flashes it and reinstalls my tuned PCM. He supports the tune and takes precautions to not flash the tuned PCM - a great Service Manager for sure! He usually charges me...

2016 Ram Big Horn, Crew Cab, 4x4, 3.55 Axle, Ecodiesel
Tripped San Diego to La Pine Oregon to hunt elk and trout fish. MPG rates are disappointing but acceptable. I have done some things that could effect MPG. They are: (1) Installed Leer...
TC Diesel,
You say, "There are new fuels on the market today that were NOT available when this study took place (2007)".
Other than more suppliers using ethanol what are these "new fuels"? From what I have studied, all diesel has federal regulations that must be met and suppliers generally do...
I've been using GasLog and like it the best except for the fact that it shows all three of my vehicles on the same screen. I've been trying Fuel Buddy and like it even better because I can view each vehicle separetly. I paid for the Pro version to get rid of the adds and to try "trips". Trips...
Jason,
I have yet to change my oil but I did watch an uTube video on "how to". It showed the oil drained and cautioned to wait longer (5-15 minutes I think) as the upper area oil is slow to drain. Sure enough, after the wait more oil came pouring out.
Hope this helps
jdn,
1 - I wasn't comparing engines, I was comparing C3 and E7, E9 oils.
2 - I intend to have the dealer do all work while in warranty.
3 - Not sure where you get your warranty facts. My Service Manager said the oil I plan on using would have no effect on
the factory or my Mopar extended...
I have been using Mobil Delvac 1 ESP, 5w-40 full synthetic heavy-duty diesel engine oil, rated E7 & E9 in my 2006 Ford F350 6.0 diesel. I intend to also use it in my new 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Ecodiesel as I believe it exceeds the C3 rating specified by Chrysler.
Here is what I have read:
C3...
