So i was able to easily remove the engine cover and sound deadening foam under the intake tube over the weekend. I got a little nervous about removing the injector foam. What is the best process for swiveling the stainless pipe in the center of the frame to enable lifting the foam out of there?
Thank you for the head's up Boost. And to take it one step further, what is the advantage of keeping the heat in for a diesel? In other words, does the additional heat improve diesel combustion or is this to prevent fuel gelling and icing in the air/turbo? Thank you again!
Will adding a CAI actually deliver any significant MPG or power improvements on turbo diesel motors like the ED, or is it just marketing hype and increased intake noise?
I know on naturally aspirated gas motors they are essentially just hype if you don't make similar exhaust improvements...
I am new to diesels in general, and have owned my ED for a little over a year now. I live in West Central Iowa and it gets plenty cold here. What are the benefits of running a grill cover on a diesel? Obviously to mitigate ice in the air box issues, but what does the cover actually do...
I was told by the dealer to never keep the DEF tank more than 1/2 full in the winter as there is a heater that keeps the tank warm that stresses out if more than 1/2 full. I'm not sure if this is sound advice or not... My gauge seems to be a little squirelly too. I have been running at 1/4...
Thanks to this thread, I now know that I have a block heater and better yet mine came with the cord installed. It has a nice plug with a cover and was tucked in under the radiator cowling above the passenger-side headlight. Needless to say I plugged it in last night as it has been 0 or below...
My truck is a 2015 and has around 58k miles on it and recently had the oil changed. I saw some photos on here of guys pulling and cleaning the EGR pipe. I am scared to death that mine looks like that! Any idea how long this procedure takes? It looks pretty straightforward; removing a few...
I have the same exact Black on Black truck with air bags and 3.55. Mine also has a locking fiberglass ARE bed cover. My family is loving it so far. The MPG is pretty amazing on the interstate ranging from 27-29 from Western Iowa to Grand Rapids, MI recently. I usually drive 6-8 mph over the...
$900 for a tune sounds pretty steep. Plus, my truck will be down while the ECM is shipped, tuned, and shipped back. Is the ROI on this tune legitimate? Are you still seeing the gains weeks/months after the installation?
While we're on the topic, are there any other noise dampening parts that should be removed to prevent these types of issues? I read once there is a chunk of foam near the turbo that can be removed? Thank you again!
@solarvic- I had the same work performed after 3 "service electronic control" lights and trips to the dealer. Did me a solid, because they said there is an outstanding software upgrade to prevent this issue that RAM hasn't deployed to dealers yet. Not sure the injectors needed replaced, but...
Thank you for the head's up. I live in Iowa, and I believe most Casey's stores have biodiesel blend as well. That is typically where I get fuel due to Fuelsaver program. In summary, you are saying if you are using a biodiesel blend to NOT use additives then?
Totally agree on additives, and I only chose this brand after watching a pretty thoughtful youtuber talk about his personal experience with over the road trailering with his EDs. He mentioned several products that make huge claims and shot them down. He also discussed his experience with Hot...
