Well I’m going on a month and a half without my baby and damn does it suck. Went to pick it up the Friday before last and there was half an inch of water under the rear seat and the headliner hadn’t been replaced. Shop ordered headliner and had to remove windshield to install new headliner when...
Before I tuned it seemed as is my def stayed in the tank for months. Now def usage is based on miles, driving conditions, load, ect. How many miles has it been since you last filled up?
Hell yeah! Not sure how new ones have a work around but I believe you have to bypass power gate module on 17 and newer ones to be able to access anything
I found this thread from a few years ago. In my opinion of you replaceced the tank and still have issues I would start chasing ground wires down and check over all electrical connections under and inside the truck. https://www.ecodieselram.com/forum/threads/p203e-code.989/
I wonder if they replaced your intake also. Could be a number of things but if it comes and goes it could be something in the driveline. Does it fluctuate with rpm or only under acceleration? I’d be suspect of soot on turbo vanes throwing it off.
So I’ve realized I never did an entry to the welcome forum so I would like to announce myself.

I’m sorry boss I haven’t heard of this senario. IMO the ignition hit a glitch and didn’t know how to act so it shuts off and required basically a forced start.
My square body has a built trans wirh shift kit and 1800 stall, when it shifts between first and second it gets pretty violent when I’m in the upper rpms haha but it’ll break traction when she shifts from 1-2
I believe at one point there was a recall on the turn dial knobs. Not sure why or what issues it fixed. My assumption would be a weak connection with your transmission control module if they couldn’t connect to it
