Just as @Tremper126 said, they make tools to show you. However, the regen process is suppose to just work and never show you it's happening.- BoostN

If it's a emissions fault code (which it sounds like), then yes it can. I would recommend pulling the actual code.- BoostN

Which Tune do I have
It's hard to tell sometimes. Sometimes you get lucky and the tuner will put a sticker on the ECM. Also, perhaps someone will chine in here with tuning that can hopefully shed some light on those characteristics can lead you down the right path..- BoostN
