3k miles and still can't get over 23 mpg

I can't complain getting about 16-17mpg for city driving and seen as much as 24.2 mpg on a short trip(33 miles). I think the key is getting thru the gears quickly and letting it get settled in. On the highway I set the cruise at 60 and let it go. Even though the highway has a lot of rolling...

    Fuel Filter

The Fuel Filter wrench from Geno's works great, also the replacement brass drain is simple to install. Trust me the POS drain plug that is there does not even work. Personally you should be changing your fuel filter at least twice a year, just before winter and just after winter. If you do...

3k miles and still can't get over 23 mpg

And why are you complaining? 24mpg combined is great. I average 16mpg for actual city driving and I'm not complaining. when I had a Ram 3500 QCSB Cummins I got 15mpg average city, post a ton of mods. Take the truck a long trip with no city driving and see what you get. The best I have gotten...

    Oil Spec Recall/TSB - Grounds for Class-Action?

Yeah the oil filter cost me $68. Oh and by the way FCA is also doing this to the Jeep Cherokees with the ECODIESEL also. I was told they ran out of stickers for the oil fill cap but the managed to find the addendum for the book after I politely asked about it. The only thing that really pisses...

3k miles and still can't get over 23 mpg

Oh yeah I only have about 4500 miles on mine and just did the first oil change due to the oil life meter being at <10%. I also just switched to 5w-40, the dealer did it free except for me paying for the oil filter $63. What a rip off.

3k miles and still can't get over 23 mpg

Well, the best I've gotten was 2 quick trips totaling 300 miles which include being in stop and go traffic for an hour and only got 27 mpg. Considering the type of driving that was involved about 30 miles in one direction on the highway I think it was great. One day I will really take it on a...

I'll give you $100. The rims are piece of crap anyway. Plastic on steel is all they are.

PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

Well just had the TSB done on mine and it cost me $63 for the filter. It's just CJ-4 oil at 5W-40 weight, then next oil change will be with AMSOIL. I would have done it this time but I had already bought the Low ASH crap and now can't get my money back. From what I've read don't do the 5W-40...

PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

There are spattering's of people throughout this forum that have spouted about void warranties due to the incorrect oil type. Whether they put it in or the dealer put in the wrong type. Personally if the dealer put it in then they are now responsible for the engine. I don't know anyone...

PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

Well I dropped a line to FCA and have not heard back from them as of yet. They have until 7/19/16 according to their website to reply. It's amazing how they change their mind about something that they have been voiding peoples warranty on without telling anyone. I don't want the dealer to do...

PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

That is weird because my truck did not come with a Supplement manual. All information is included in the regular Owners manual. Are they going to send out an ADDENDUM or change to the Owners Manual for the Oil Recommendations???

    oil change

Personally I would stand there while they change the oil and make sure they put In the correct stuff. But that's just me.

Extang vs leer trilogy tonneau cover

I've got the Extang 2.0 and not really overly excited about it. I should have stayed with the tried and true Fold-A-Cover. I had one on my 2003 Ram 3500 QC SB 4X4. Even having to replace the hinge covers after many years was not bad. It is a better system, maybe a bit harder to take off but...

    New EcoDiesel owner guide

Change the fuel filter twice a year, before Winter and after Winter. Some say that's too much but a little extra maintenance never hurt, besides this will ensure that crappy Winter Diesel doesn't leave your filter clogged. You know what they say, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me a lot...

    Fuel Additives

Pay closer attention after a fill up and that also depends on where you are getting your fuel from. If you get from different places then try to stay with one source for at least 2 fill ups in a row. This will tell you something about the quality of fuel you are getting. Also pay attention to...

    29MPG!

I agree that the AC doesn't hurt you on the highway, but around town in stop and go at less than 45mph it does.

    29MPG!

A quick 300 mile trip to the casino and back 2 times with traffic hardly moving on the way there and half of the trip is back woods country roads I achieved 25mpg. I did set the cruz when possible and eventually got to 65mph on the highway portion which is about half of it. We ran the AC due...
