I think 24 to 28 MPG is more the norm for the Ram ecodiesel. your truck still needs some break-in miles to achieve the better MPG.

29-33mpg is not the norm. It takes perfect conditions to meet that. 23 for mostly city sounds about right. Lots of variables in the mpg game.

I have 3500km on my 2016 and I'm averaging 27-28 mostly highway and back roads. Mpg Drops fast when I do stop and go city driving.

I have a 2014 which I bought used with 20,000mi. on board, I have owned the truck for 5 weeks now and additional 5,000mi. I pulled my vehicle fuel analysis which shows my low of 22.7mpg to a high of 26.1mpg. My wife does combine highway and city and I normally do mostly highway. As expected the more city driving the lower the mileage. However I would not pull the low mileage complaint lever at just 3,000mim. This of course relates to .071 cents per mile up to .099 cents per mile fuel costs with DEF calculated in at 8gl.s per 10,000mi.

Welcome!

So many variables to getting great MPG. I'll be the first to say, any kind of city driving will bring your MPG down faster than you think. Which we all know that...

Well, the best I've gotten was 2 quick trips totaling 300 miles which include being in stop and go traffic for an hour and only got 27 mpg. Considering the type of driving that was involved about 30 miles in one direction on the highway I think it was great. One day I will really take it on a trip and see what she can really do.
Oh yeah I average about 17mpg around town.

I have 9k miles on my now. I track mine on Fuelly and here is the link. http://www.fuelly.com/car/ram/1500/2015/baconone/432206. I really try to hyper mile mine all I can. I drive very slow, keeping it just above the shift point in 7th or 8th gear. When I do get over 75-80 for extended periods of time, I drop down to around 27. Cruising backroads or gentle city driving, actually improves mine. The GDE Tuner brought me up from 24.5 to nearly 30. I don't think I really saw a break-in difference. I probablyPresentation1.jpg lost 1 MPG when I added the heavy 10-ply tires. When my wife drives, I loose a mile or two MPG. The real kicker for me with the GDE tune was the cruise control which now functions less aggressively. I hardly used it before the tune due to it's aggressiveness wasting fuel. I am really being careful with my current tank, trying to get 800 miles out of it. We'll see. Oh, by the way, I always run powerservice Diesel Kleen. Don't know if it helps with the MPG, but it sure makes it quieter.

Oh yeah I only have about 4500 miles on mine and just did the first oil change due to the oil life meter being at <10%. I also just switched to 5w-40, the dealer did it free except for me paying for the oil filter $63. What a rip off.

I have a 2016 with 1800 miles on it. 75-80 getting 28/29. running 85-90 it drops to 25/26. Usually "averages" 23/24 for a days average. My driving is rural and city. Happy so far!

Last tank was 723 mile on 25 gallons for 28.92 mpg. This was about 60/40 Hwy/City. I never went over 80 mph. Typical cruise on the highway was 65-70.

Around town I kept up with traffic but didn't floor it from a stop but did accelerate smartly to where i could get in the higher gears quickly if there would be some room between stoplights. The EVIC said 29.3 so it was pretty close to hand calc. I am running the GDE tune.

At a 65 mph cruise, the EVIC was showing 34-35 mpg. I am running the 20" wheels with the Goodyear RSA tires. I also have a hard tonneau cover. Tires are inflated to 40 psi. Truck has about 3,500 miles on it. All in all I am impressed with the mileage.

Minor correction, I just checked the fuel receipt and I transposed numbers on it. My actual mileage was 29.49 mpg. For you Canadians playing at home this is just a touch less than 8l per 100km (7.97 actually). That was also with some pretty heavy rainstorms when driving too. I probably did at least 200 miles in heavy rain over the last month I've been driving on this tank.

I've had my truck (4wd) for just a few weeks and I've never seen below 24mpg since the first tank of fuel.....last tank was 26 and change......I'm on tank #4 and just over 1/2 a tank left.

I own a 2016 ED 4X4 12k miles. Lowest recorded mpg via Fuelio app is 20.89 and best is 23.36 mpg. If I slow down to 65mpg on highway the trip display shows 25-31 mpg like numbers.

So I've been tracking my mileage since my truck was driven off the lot new....2015 I got a couple months ago. My overall average mpg is 23.7 over 8 tanks. Cost per mile is $.086 including fuel and DEF. Highest recorded mpg for a full tank is 24.8 mpg and lowest 22.7 mpg. I drive 75-80mph on the freeway and probably about 50/50 city/hwy for each tank. The low mpg tanks I've had were probably 70+% city driving.

I have somewhere around 3600-3700 miles on my truck.

And why are you complaining? 24mpg combined is great. I average 16mpg for actual city driving and I'm not complaining. when I had a Ram 3500 QCSB Cummins I got 15mpg average city, post a ton of mods.
Take the truck a long trip with no city driving and see what you get. The best I have gotten is 26mpg for a quick run of about double run of of 180 miles but included getting stuck in highway traffic and mother of the roads I drove were back roads so you are doing great in my book.
