Unfortunately, any 2014-2016 Ecodiesel that had the AEM software update as part of the EPA class action lawsuit will experience poor performance from turbo lag to less mileage per gallon. People are returning to the dealers and calling FCA to complain about this. Owners are disappointed with...
The law firm can only help the people who owned or leased a 2014-2016 Ecodiesel. I am not aware of a current lawsuit involving the EGR issue. I only heard of the class action lawsuit when the information was mailed to me as an owner that I qualify for the $3,075 amount. I brought my vehicle in...
The latest information going around is that the new EGR cooler is not available. The EGR coolers that replaced the leaking EGR are still causing issues. My EGR cooler was replaced in February and still causes the coolant smell. The AEM software update is running at a higher temperature which is...
I had the AEM software update and experienced the poor performance everyone is complaining about. I did not submit for the $3,075 class action lawsuit yet. I did have my vehicle sit for two months waiting for a new EGR cooler. The AEM software update is part of the class action lawsuit. If the...
The EGR cooler recall is for 2014-2019 models. The new part was coming out in April. My 2015 Ecodiesel sat for two months. The service writer was leaving messages he found the part and the truck will be repaired soon. The AEM software update is probably why so many EGR coolers cracked quickly...
If the 3.0 was an utter failure. How come did FCA come out with a 2020 Ecodiesel model. I still hear a few people claim they never experienced a problem with the Ecodiesel Ram yet. All makes and models will experience an issue. FCA wouldn’t continue the Ecodiesel if it’s a failure!
In the U.S. their is a current recall regarding engine fires stemming from the EGR cooler leak. I don’t know if Canada has reciprocity with the U.S. NHTSB. This is truly a safety issue for all Ecodiesel owners and the Canadian government should step in.
The dealer may also not include any information about the service performed on the service agreement. Always challenge them why this wasn’t operating when I brought the vehicle in. They like to write down things that are only beneficial to them. I had a Horn and Radio and USB not working. The...
The Ecodiesel is a nice truck. Very comfortable and the mileage is very good pre AEM software.
Hopefully these problems are corrected as Ram continued with a new Ecodiesel model for 2020.
I had a similar problem with using a different brand when I brought my vehicle for service at a private mechanic for oil change and filters. The mechanic apparently didn’t use Blue DEF brand which was always used. Insist they use the right oil and DEF fluid.
The mileage and turbo lag is a major complaint. The dealer played stupid about the new update when I showed them the letter from FCA. Definitely stay on top of any recalls or service updates. The class action lawsuit has to help now that the dealers can’t deny you warranty work associated with...
I had the EGR cooler replaced, returned to dealer because of the coolant smell. The service manager said they hosed off the area and also pressure checked for leaks. I told him that in April the new EGR coolers are coming in. He said that he has a lot full of vehicles waiting for it. I brought...
Anyone with an extended Maxcare warranty should not be charged the $100.00 deductible when you have a repair covered under the AEM.
Car dealers are getting reimbursed from FCA for all the work.
Unfortunately, these dealers are not very helpful. When I purchased my truck. The dealer gave me three free oil changes and a loaner vehicle as part of the deal. When calling for an appointment the next appointment with loaner is over 2 months. Very inconvenient. They had my truck for two months...
I also experienced a problem with the AEM update when I had it done in June 2019. The dealer didn’t have an AEM update yet as l was sent a letter back in February of a new update for the AEM. The EGR cooler was replaced because of the coolant leak. I know that a new EGR cooler is coming out in...
Congratulations, I have 93,000 on my 2015 Big Horn Ecodiesel. I guess this is a good time to move on a good deal with FCA incentives. I like the limited model. Best of Luck!
I have a lower rattle in the engine that vibrates by the pedal. The service manager said it’s not covered by the warranty but I said this is covered by Max care 100,000 and AEM software update so it doesn’t matter what you say. Dealerships are notorious for giving misinformation. You have to...
FCA is coming out with a new EGR cooler soon which may help the current issue with the coolant leak.
I am hearing the new 2020 has the same turbo lag issue even though it’s a different engine. I might buy a 2020 Ecodiesel as the fuel economy pays off in the long run. I had a 2019 Hemi for a...
The best advice is get the oil changed at a reputable place that has you registered on the date with mileage and what oil and filter used. My cousin had lucked out, the dealer claimed he didn’t use their service ever for oil changes and didn’t want to help him with his warranty claim. He took...
