Do you actually know? No one that I have seen is claiming that Ram is retrofitting Gen 3 engines for Gen 2 trucks. What has been rumored is that the Gen 2 design was modified.
Couple of questions. Were you tuned? If so what tune and did you have a transmission tune? If you were stock did you have the latest stock programming? From everything I read Ram did two things to address this issue. The first change was moving to 5w40. The second issue was changing...
On Facebook in the Everything EcoDiesel group there is talk of production of the old engine having stopped and a new re-engineered version of the Gen 2 is out. Has anyone reading on here heard of such a thing? This would the tantamount to admitting the engine was a lemon.
Higher costs elsewhere. Global market for oil and its associated products. Some genius attached a sovereign nation and the rest of the civilized world is trying to not be drawn in to war but penalizing the country that started the war. This hurts the entire planet. I guess some argue evil...
I was driving today on cruise control and got a CEL and a Service Electronic Throttle Control message. Limped home and checked the codes and cleared them. Drove it for approximately 30 minutes with no issues. Not going to stray too far from home with it for now to see if it codes again. 52k...
The previous regen had counted down and finished. I waste my precious time and diesel and always drive until they finish. I freaked out at the 90% reading. I was going to buy the alfaobd software to do the manual regen if it went in to limp mode.
I have the GDE compliant tune and get around 400 miles per regen and they always start at 80%. This morning as soon as I started the truck up the regen message popped up and it said 90% full. It took longer than usual to start counting down, approximately 20 miles, and it killed my mpg by 1.5...
First off they can't hold your property. You should have told them you were going to call 911. I think that if this is really as widespread as it seems, a class action needs to start. I read these stories but if literally tens of thousands of these engines were failing I think it would be a...
I put the original GDE tune on my 2018 3 months after I got it, I had already put 10k miles on it, mostly highway driving. When the EPA compliant tune came out I switched over to it at about 35k and I am now at 51k. The only issues I've had were the EGR recall and a glow plug replaced under...
I've considered selling my 2018 because I really hardly drive anymore and the $600 per month payment I have for another 30 months isn't justified. Dealers are hounding me to purchase it and this has me thinking that failure rates, while sensationalized in forums like this, must not be that...
I've noticed that many of the full deletes online don't show much smoke coming out the exhaust. The most I noticed was from a -20 cold start. I have no desire to roll coal and was wondering if those that have done full deletes, do you see much smoke?
The DEF is added to the exhaust to cut down on NOx emissions. The ecodiesel is just a smaller engine, less weight in a half ton chassis, and that is why mileage is better.
I've hit 50k miles on my 2018 with one glow plug replacement and the EGR cooler recall done. My truck has had the GDE tune since 15k and runs smoothly. Any 18 owners here experiencing issues?
I have a 2018 with 50k on it. I had put 35k of that 15k on it prior to Mar 2020. I had to get a glow plug replaced under warranty and did got the EGR recall done. I've been running the GDE tune since 15k and went with the updated EPA compliant one when it came out. No complaints really. I will...
